Daniel McDonald, based in central Florida, brings 26 years experience in law enforcement and homeless outreach, and is available to develop innovative solutions for your homeless issues.

In 2012, he founded a police homeless initiative at a large, metropolitan police department to address the needs of the chronically homeless. He has assisted hundreds of clients enter into temporary, transitional or permanent housing and has participated in community collaborations that have slashed chronic homeless rates by over 50% in a three-year period.

Dan’s innovative homeless solutions have received worldwide coverage.  His work has been featured on WBZ Newsradio 1030, The Today Show, BBC Radio 5, Inside Edition, ABC News, CNN, People Magazine, Huffington Post, Tampa Tribune, Tampa Bay Times, Times of India, Daily Mail (London), Herald Sun (Australia) and RTL Television (Germany).

He has received several awards including Officer of the Month, the Housing & Education Alliance Community Hero award as well as a commendation from the Hillsborough Board of County Commissioners for service to the citizens of Hillsborough County (FL). In 2016 and 2017, he was nominated for the Distinguished Service Award by the Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency (FCCD) as well as a CNN Hero Award.

Dan is a native of Stockport, England. He received of BA in Geography from Boston University. He also received a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of South Florida where he was inducted into the Pi Alpha Alpha honor society which recognizes the highest academic achievement from each graduating class.
